When a new Project File is first created, a broad brush scoping is generally performed using the Budget & Schedule worksheet where initial estimates of timing, resources by skill set and other costs are captured.  As the project gets started there may be a need to capture more detailed resource information for the project (this is essential if resources are to be managed effectively across the organization).  The Resource Allocation worksheet allows resources to be captured either by skill type or by the name of the individual team member, with demand over time captured on a weekly calendar as shown in this example:

 

 
If Microsoft Project is being used on the project, resource data may be imported into the Resource Allocation worksheet.
